Muhurta
The art of choosing an auspicious moment to begin something important — electional astrology.
Muhurta is electional astrology: deliberately selecting a favourable time to start a significant act — a wedding, journey, business launch, surgery or moving home. The idea is that a venture begun under a supportive sky is given the best chance to flourish.
A good muhurta weighs the Panchanga (especially tithi and nakshatra), the rising sign at the chosen moment, the placement of relevant planets, and avoidance of inauspicious windows. The word also denotes a traditional time unit of roughly 48 minutes.
Muhurta is forward-looking and practical: it does not predict fate but tries to align timing with favourable conditions. As with all timing tools, honest practice treats it as stacking the odds, not guaranteeing an outcome.
