It compares two birth charts — chiefly each person's Moon nakshatra and sign — across eight factors called kootas: varna, vashya, tara, yoni, graha maitri, gana, bhakoot and nadi. Each koota carries points, and together they add up to a maximum of 36 guṇas. The score is a measure of natural compatibility, not a prediction of the marriage itself.
What Guṇa Milan score is considered good?
As a rough guide, 18 and above out of 36 is read as a workable match, 25–32 is very good, and above 32 is excellent. But this is honestly only a guide. The guṇas aren't destiny — many happy marriages sit around 18, and a high score still asks for love, effort and understanding.
