Jaimini Astrology
A distinct system of Vedic astrology using sign-based aspects, chara karakas and Chara dasha.
Jaimini astrology is a major school distinct from the more common Parashari system, attributed to the sage Jaimini. It differs in several techniques: it uses rashi (sign) aspects rather than planetary aspects, a set of variable significators called chara karakas, and its own timing method, the Chara dasha.
Its signature tools include the atmakaraka and the other chara karakas, the Karakamsa chart, and special yogas and arudha (perceived) points. The aim is the same — to read character and timing — but the machinery is noticeably different.
Many modern astrologers blend Jaimini techniques with standard Parashari reading rather than using either in isolation. Jaimini is valued especially for insight into life purpose, career and spiritual themes.
